How to Restore Old Beeswax Packaging?

Beeswax food packages are great, but after a few years they can become flimsy and useless. Don’t throw them away and don’t buy more! Here’s how to restore beeswax food packaging.

How to Restore Old Beeswax Packaging

You wandered into a store or online store and bought yourself some beeswax food packaging because you care about the planet, you don’t want to cause a plastic problem, and they smell really good. This fact motivates you to buy beeswax food packaging like all the hip kids do. This is a great move for you.

I love my beeswax food wraps. They do work, they are hygienic, easy to clean, and like I said …… they smell great. However, they wear out after a while. When you first buy or make beeswax food wrappers, they are tough and perfect.

But the first time you use them to seal a bowl is the moment they start to degrade. Bending them over food, bowls or jars will cause them to crease, and if they are repeated in the same area multiple times, they will become limp. When they become limp, they don’t seal as tightly as they used to. No matter how hard you press and squeeze them, they don’t work.

You may notice this after a year or so of using the wraps. They don’t form around bowls or food. What does an adult hipster who wants to be a dishonest daddy have to do? Resurrect them.

How to Restore Beeswax Food Wraps

Place your beeswax food wrapper on a baking sheet and place it in an oven set to the lowest temperature. 150° F or so.

After a minute or two, check to see if the wax on top is starting to melt.

As soon as the wax has melted, remove the tray from the oven and then grasp the wrapper by the corners.

Continue to hold the wrapper by the corners until it cools enough for the wax to harden again. This will only take a few seconds.

Place the newly repaired beeswax food wrapper on a flat surface, such as a counter or table. Done!

You can do this on store-bought wrappers or wrappers you make yourself at home. Simply place them in a low-temperature oven. The heat melts the beeswax again, causing it to spread and collect in the areas of the creases that were previously broken and limp. It is normal for the bottom of the baking sheet to lose a little beeswax.

When it is firm again, the beeswax is once again evenly distributed, just like new. Stiff and ready to form around whatever you want. Now contact us to get your beeswax package!
